It's all in what you have to spend and what you want. The 800-S will go about anywhere, but are short and lack power. The 900 is really about perfect. Then the 1K is shittin' on everything else right now.
It's hard to judge mileage and hours, it just depends on what kind of riding the owner does, and how well they maintained it. It's always a gamble when you buy used. Good luck in your hunt for one buddy.

basically I'm stuck getting an 800 right now. definitely getting an S. I figure I'll probably wheel the 800 for a year or two and then move up. are there any telltale signs of abuse?

Other than the usual things to look for like frame damage or smoke out of the exhaust, there isn't anything specific to look for.
All RZR's that ride rough terrain like we do eat wheel bearings, ball joints tie rod ends and bushings. Do your best to check those when you're looking around.

I'm pretty sure other than when they went to the 60" wide "S" model, they are all pretty similar other than that.

I agree with Psycho on the trail. For not much more for a used RZR800 you could be into a new Wildcat trail.

the only time I ride my quad anymore is at night with the ol' lady. I'm still keeping the CR 2 fitty.

It started out as just a late night booze cruiser for me, but I don't care what anyone says; they are a blast. Don't get a RZR until you're ready to retire your quad. Ever since I got mine, I don't want to ride my quad anymore. And I definitely lost some of my nerve climbing on the quad now.

Well then consider the Wildcat Sport that is 60"s wide. It's more costly however quite the machine based on what I have read on the Wildcat forum. It took first place in the desert racing recently.

My Teryx makes less power than a 800 and I'm still super happy with it. The only thing it can't do is rocket up a steep climb and catch air at the top like the big bore machines. I can still claw my way up some steep technical shit while hauling beer. You'll like the 800.

that brings up a good point. I was worried it would be under powered but I've seen some teryxs and rhynos do some shit.

My rhino was prob the most under powered sxs in the ville but they just keep climbing just not fast. On the long steep stuff you have to watch for hooping

An 800 will go just about anywhere, but if you could swing a 900, you won't regret it. Not only for the power and longer wheelbase, but the suspension handles so much better

I want a 1000 only because it rides so smooth.
